🛑 India ranks 148 in representation of women in government –
➡ India ranks 148 globally in terms of representation of women in executive government and parliament, according to a report published by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and UN Women.
➡ The data published in the report Women in Politics 2017 Map showed that women make up only 11.8 per cent (64 MPs) of the 542-member Lok Sabha and 11 per cent (27) of the 245-member Rajya Sabha.
➡ In terms of women ministers, India ranks 88 with only five ministers (18.5 per cent) in the cabinet.
➡ This level of gender representation among ministers is better than the Asian average of 11% but far worse than the leader of the table, Indonesia, which gives 25.6% of its ministerial positions to women.
🛑 First Airbus Training Centre in Asia to be set up in New Delhi –
➡ Airbus is setting up a greenfield training facility at Aerocity, New Delhi, to support India’s growing need for Airbus aircraft pilots and maintenance engineers.
➡ The ground-breaking for the Airbus India Training Centre was performed by P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju, Minister of Civil Aviation and Tom Enders, CEO, Airbus in the presence of Jayant Sinha, Minister of State for Civil Aviation.
➡ This will also be the first training facility of Airbus in Asia.
➡ It is expected to be operational by the end of 2018.
🛑 Papa Rao, Jwala included in governing body of SAI –
➡BV Papa Rao, IAS(retired), along with Commonwealth badminton doubles gold medallist Jwala Gutta have been included as members of the newly constituted governing body of the Sports Authority of India (SAI).
➡ Rao, who is now a sports administrator and advisor to Telangana Government, has the experience of being an officer on special duty of SAI from 1985 to 90.
